What's new at SendBill: a longer trial, easy cancelling and more on every plan

Hello from SendBill. I've been busy over the last few days, and a lot of what's changed came from listening to how people actually use the app. Here's a rundown of what's different and why.

A 14-day free trial

The free trial is now 14 days instead of 7. A week wasn't really long enough to send a few bills, chase a payment and get a feel for whether SendBill suits your business. Two weeks should give you a proper go at it.

Cancelling is simple

If SendBill isn't right for you, leaving shouldn't be a chore. There's a red Cancel button in your shop settings, and one step to confirm. No surveys, no "are you really sure?" pages, no guilt trips.

Your account keeps working until the end of your paid period or trial, so you don't lose anything straight away. The cancellation notice will remind you to export your data before then, so you've got your records safe.

More features on every plan

A few things that used to be Pro only are now on every plan:

CSV export of your bills, handy for your accountant or your own spreadsheets PDF client statements, so you can send a customer a tidy summary of what they owe And these are now on the base plans too:

Turning a quote into a bill in one go, without typing it all out again Marking a bill as paid by hand, for when someone pays in cash or by bank transfer These felt like basics that everyone should have, so now everyone does.

Proper line items and invoice numbers

Bills can now have separate line items, so you can list each job, product or hour on its own line rather than lumping it all together.

Every shop also gets its own sequential invoice numbers, starting at INV-0001 and counting up. That keeps your records in order and makes life easier at tax time.

If you're VAT registered, you can set the VAT rate on each line. That helps if you sell a mix of things at different rates.

Smoother logging in

New users who haven't set up a shop yet are taken straight to the setup page, instead of landing on an error page. Sorry to anyone who hit that before.

What's in Pro

Pro is still £4.99 and covers:

  • Your own branding on bills

  • Automatic payment reminders

  • Recurring bills for regular customers

  • Text and WhatsApp pay links

To be clear, the text and WhatsApp pay links aren't live yet. They're coming soon, and I'll let you know when they're ready. Everything else on that list works today.

Have a go

If you've been thinking about trying SendBill, now's a good time. Fourteen days is plenty to see if it fits, and if it doesn't, cancelling takes a couple of clicks.

If you've got questions or ideas, please get in touch. SendBill is run by me, a sole trader myself, so your message comes straight to me.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for using SendBill.
